SIGNED AND ATTESTED SCORE CARDS
For most competitions or events, scorecards are to be signed and attested. This means that you do not keep your own official score during the round of golf; but rather scorecards are exchanged. Following the round, the person keeping your score signs the card, which you then check for accuracy and also sign. Once you have signed the card, no further changes to that card are allowed so double check before applying your autograph. It is recommended that you maintain a separate scorecard for verification purposes. Signed and attested scorecards are to be placed in Tor Hill Ladies Club Locker # 82. All active members obtain a Golf Canada membership number and have the opportunity to establish a handicap, and are welcome to enter in club activities. Entering Scores for Holes Not Played Effective January 2024
Effective January 2024
… “when a player posts a 9-hole score the World Handicapping System will automatically calculate an 18-hole Score Differential for the round. This will be based on the player’s 9-hole Score Differential and expected Score Differential based on their current Handicap Index®. This allows the 9-hole round to be considered in the player’s Handicap Index calculation right away.” Entering Scores for Hole Started but Not Holed Out The score to record is your Most Likely Score or Net Double Bogey, whichever is lower. The Most Likely Score is the number of strokes already taken, plus the number of strokes you would most likely require to complete the hole. Position of the Ball = Strokes to be Added If the ball lies on the putting green, and is no more than 5 feet (1.5 meters) from the hole: Add one additional stroke. If the ball lies between 5 feet (1.5 meters) and 20 yards (20 meters) from the hole: Add 2 or 3 additional strokes, depending on the position of the ball, the difficulty of the green and the ability of the player. If the ball lies more than 20 yards (20 meters) from the hole: Add 3 or 4 additional strokes, depending on the position of the ball, the difficulty of the green and the ability of the player. ENTERING SCORES UNDER THE WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM The recommended method of entering your scores is to enter your gross hole-by-hole score, and let the system make any necessary adjustments. Hole-by-hole scores are mandatory for all league competition games with the Tor Hill Ladies Golf Club. However, if you prefer to enter your total Adjusted Score, then you need to understand how to calculate and apply Net Double Bogey for Maximum Hole Score. First, you must know your Course Handicap prior to the game in order to determine the Handicap Strokes for each hole. You need this information to calculate your Maximum Hole Score. If you are uncertain what Handicap Stroke to apply, see document on Handicap Strokes/Ticks for further explanation. Maximum Hole Score is Net Double Bogey which is calculated as follows: Par + 2 (Double Bogey) + Handicap Strokes For example, you are playing NW, and your Course Handicap is 24. On hole North 4, Par 3, your Handicap Strokes is 2. You score an 8. You would calculate Net Double Bogey as follows: 3 (Par) + 2 (Double Bogey) + 2 (Handicap Stroke) = 7 Your adjusted gross score for that hole is 7. If a player has not yet established a handicap, the Maximum Hole Score is Par plus 5 Things to note: Net Double Bogey replaced Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) Tournament scores no longer exist. Any exceptional score, regardless of whether it was made in a competition or recreational round, will be taken into account. Last updated April 10, 2024 by Handicap Coordinator |
